training 6.17.2012

Rough day Saturday, between all-stars baseball starting and everything else.  Trained Sunday.

Started with B-Ala/creatine, a little dynamic work, and a fair amount of weight work.

Squat x3@8 + 0%: reached 280kg and crapped out.  Just felt very heavy today.  Got one fatigue set.
Bench + bands x3@8 + 0%: reached 480# and felt great.  Go figure.  Used EFS average bands, adding something over 100# at the top, and really worked on exploding off the chest.
Elbow-out extensions x8@9 + 0%: worked up to 100# fat DBs and had had enough; did two sets.

Really tired this day.  Not sure why I'm dragging so badly, particularly in training, but I am.

Thanks for checking in.

training 6.14.2012

Cloudy and humid today, at least for SD.

Started with B-Ala/creatine and no dynamic work.  Worked up slowly with the bar work to compensate.

Wore elbow sleeves and velcro wrist wraps.  Only water during today.

Bench +chain x3@8.5 + 0%: worked up to 200kg plus all the chain I have; got one fatigue set and felt fine, though shoulders are a little beaten up
Good Morning x5@9 + 0%: reached 200kg and crapped out; got one fatigue set
Push Press x6@9 + 0%: used fat DBs rather than bar and worked up to 50kg DBs, one fatigue set

Shoulders aren't particularly happy right now, specifically right.  Used the DBs to be able to better modulate and work peripheral structure without as much weight.  At least I think that's the concept.

Next session is another max day, and I'm already feeling a little intimidated.  I will have to do something about that, though not sure what.

Felt good today despite everything.  All-Star baseball for the boy starts tomorrow, and I am a little preoccupied with that.  Need to get my head screwed on.

Most things are feeling good, though this week has been mentally tough.  I need to clear something, though not sure what.  Don't really want to get under 800 pounds with my mind anywhere else, so I will have to do some psyching up for next time.

Anyway, thanks for checking in.

training 6.12.2012

Some dynamic work to warm up and a fair amount of bar work.  Wore elbow sleeves and light wrist wraps.  Used B-Ala/creatine before and MGPM during and after.

Squat x3@8.5 + -0%: hit 300kg plus all my chains and got one fatigue set

2 count bench x3@8.5 + -0%: 200kg plus one fatigue sets; felt heavy today

DL + chains x3@8.5 + -0%: same as two days ago and one fatigue set

Nothing worked well today.  Not sure why, but it just wasn't my day.  A little rushed, too, which undoubtedly contributed.

Still a little worn, and work isn't helping.  Sorry to be brief.

Thanks for checking in.

training 6.10.2012

Got 4 hours of sleep last night and at a huge, carby breakfast.  To say I'm dragging does not do it justice.

Warmed up under weight.  Wore elbow sleeves and Spud velcro wrist support.  Used my manpon for the 1.5 board, which translates to about 4 inches before any compression.  So more like a 2 board.

Was hot and sleepy when I started.  Fully Spiked, so everything was elevated all while desperately wanting to crawl under the bench and go to sleep.

DL + chain  x4@9 + -5%: reached 220kg plus all the chain I've got, hit a legit 9, got one fatigue set at 200kg

1.5 board x4@9 + -5%: reached 250kg, might have had one more small jump; got one fatigue set

snatch SLDL x7@9 + -5%: ground out 200kg plus one

This one was very tough.

Wife won one class and 4th in another in her comp yesterday.  She's a stud.

Sorry not to write something more, but I don't have it in me right now.  Thanks for checking in.

training 6.6.2012 and 6.7.2012

Logging two today.

Started both the same way -- dynamic work, B-Ala/creatine, big sweat on and start loading plates.

Day 1
DL w/ belt    x2@8.5 + -5%: 280kg plus two fatigue sets -- felt heavy
Bench +chain x2@8.5 + -5%: 220kg + two fatigue sets
GM x5@9 + -5%: 200kg + one fatigue set -- just tired; should have had more

Day 2
Comp bench    x2@8.5 + -5%: 225kg plus three fatigue sets -- felt good
Squat +chain   x4@9 + -5%: used reverse bands @ about -200 and got 400kg plus two fatigue sets
Push press      x7@9 + -5%: Not a lot -- maybe 120kg with a couple of fatigue sets (was pretty burned by this point)

Wife has a figure comp this weekend, so will have to squeeze training in Saturday morning.  I'm tired and my diet needs work; actually the diet is fine, but I'm not sticking to it.  Need more discipline here.

Watch Power Unlimited a couple of times this week.  Been a while.  I feel like a wimp after seeing it.  Need to knuckle down.

Thanks for checking.

training 6.4.2012

Cloudy day today, and work is fraying nerves a little.

Fair amount of dynamic work to warm up and a lot of bar work.  Wore knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, Spud velcro wrist wraps, belt for the heavies squatting.

Started with the usual B-Ala/creatine mix.  Downed MGPM during and after.

Squat x2@8.5 + -5%: hit 350kg plus one fatigue set; everything felt heavy today

2 count bench x4@9 + -5%: 220kg plus two fatigue sets; these felt pretty good, tight

DB extensions x7@9 + -5%: 110# plus a couple of fatigue sets; love these

Not sure why the squats were off today.  And I mean they felt really heavy, even out of the hole where I usually race.  Time to post video I guess, as I usually descend slowly and power up.  Not today.

On the other hand, the benching felt great for once.  I've gotten to the point that nothing really feels heavy until I pass 405, but it isn't translating to a higher max yet.  I'll get there.  Any improvement next test will be welcome.

Trundling into All-stars for baseball, and I agree to be the coach for some reason.  Training may have to move to morning.  We'll see.

Anyway, thanks for checking in.

training 6.4.2012

Busy weekend, but got a lot of training in.  Very pretty days, and warm.  Wife has a figure comp next weekend, so a lot of time is spent making sure she has what she needs.

Fair amount of dynamic work to warm up, used B-Ala/creatine mix, got to it.

2" deficit DL x2@8.5 + -5%: reached 87% of 1RM, 2 fatigue sets -- felt quite good

3ct pause bench x2@8.5 + -5%: didn't get anywhere close to 1RM (70% maybe), but felt solid nonetheless; 2 fatigue sets

Snatch grip SLDL x5@9 + -5%: ran out of gas at 200kg, one fatigue set; not sure if this is really a 9 because I am so particular about form, but probably is.

Have had a number of baseball meetings this weekend, between end of season parties and all-star stuff.  All-stars is going to heat up quick very soon, and training will be difficult.  We'll see.  Hope my boss is understanding.

Have a great day and thanks for checking.  More here.

training 6.1.2012

Gorgeous and warm here.  Light breeze and light clouds keeping it reasonably cool without blowing the surf out -- not the most productive day in the SD beach communities, as the breaks were full of hodads.

Warmed up with iron today.  Took the B-Ala/creatine mix and half a Spike.  Used knee sleeves for squats and elbow sleeves for pressing.

Raw comp bench x2@8 + -5%: 86% of most recent 1RM, but felt really heavy for some reason; got 3 fatigue sets

Pin squat + chains x2@8.5 + -5%: 95% of 1RM (gonna crush the next max) plus chains; did these Anderson style from parallel pin; felt unburstable -- felt great; 3 fatigue sets

Incline x5@9 + -5%: did a bunch with a bunch; right shoulder barked a bit after the benching; need to do more rowing movements and some rotator cuff work

Also did a bunch of ATG squats with narrow stance, just because.

Diet is pretty much see-food right now.  Just lost cooking discipline,  so I've wandered a little.  I'll be back with CBL very soon, but for now I look in the fridge and want nothing I see.  The irony of this is that my wife has a figure comp next Saturday and is eating nothing but tilapia and asparagus -- you'd think I'd be delighted to have anything at this point.  I'm tired of it all.  Need to do some cooking and freezing.

Anyway, I'll be back to it.

Thanks for checking in.  Have a great weekend.
